Pregnancy is usually the time in your life where you are full of excitement and anticipation, from what car seats or strollers you’ll buy to what the gender of your baby will be and what name you’ll choose. Then, of course, we have to worry about the pandemic and that we’ve all been asked to stay home and distance ourselves from those very people that you’d want close to you right now.
Above all, the health and safety of you and your baby should be your number one priority.
The information about COVID-19 and pregnancy is limited so the safest option is to social distance yourself. Pregnant women would normally have a list of things to do, like eating healthy, staying fit and resting when you can. With the coronavirus on all our minds you will also need to add these things to your list;
1. Washing your hands regularly.
2. Avoiding contact with people that have a high temperature or flu symptoms.
3. Work from home if you can.
4. Stay connected with loved ones.
We’ve all heard the importance of 1, 2 and 3, but at Perfect Little Bundles, we think number 4 on the list is essential, especially when you are pregnant. While it is important to distance yourself from people that don’t live in your household, being separated from workmates, family and friends can make us feel anxious, lonely and depressed.
We are so lucky that we live in a world full of technology and can see and speak to someone on the other side of the world in a second. Schedule a zoom call with a group of friends or just reach out to a family member to catch up, virtually. It’s important for your mental health to stay social even during social distancing. If you’re pregnant or a new mum, please know you’re not alone. Keep communication open with those around you can still be supported no matter where you are.
